Singapore MRT Fare & Tourist Pass Calculator

Tell us how long you're staying, how often you'll ride and how you'll pay. We'll work out whether the Singapore Tourist Pass beats paying per ride.

Singapore's MRT and buses charge by distance: S$1.28 to S$2.57 a ride with a card. The Singapore Tourist Pass costs S$17.00 a day (S$29.00 for three days), so it only pays off with heavy use. Tapping a foreign bank card adds S$0.60 a day; an EZ-Link card costs S$10.00, including a S$5.00 card cost.

1. Card fares or the Tourist Pass?

  • The Tourist Pass isn't valid on the Sentosa Express, RWS8 or express buses.
  • Staying a month or more? The S$122 adult monthly travel pass gives unlimited basic bus and train rides.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the MRT in Singapore?

MRT and basic bus fares depend on distance. With a card, an adult pays S$1.28 for up to 3.2 km, S$1.90 for about 10–11 km and S$2.57 at most, for anything over 40.2 km. Tapping in before 7.45am on weekdays (excluding public holidays) costs less. These fares apply from 27 December 2025.

Is the Singapore Tourist Pass worth it?

Only if you ride a lot. The pass costs S$17.00 for one day, S$24.00 for two and S$29.00 for three, up to S$45.00 for five. With card fares mostly between about S$1.30 and S$2, the one-day pass needs roughly ten or more rides to pay off. The calculator above checks your own numbers.

Can I use my credit card on the MRT?

Yes. Contactless Mastercard and Visa cards and mobile wallets pay the same distance-based adult fares as an EZ-Link card. Foreign-issued bank cards carry an administrative fee of S$0.60 per day of use, and your bank may add its own currency conversion charge.

What does the Tourist Pass cover?

Unlimited rides on the MRT, LRT and basic bus services. It doesn't cover premium or private services such as the Sentosa Express, RWS8 and express buses. A one-day pass runs from your first use until the end of service that day, multi-day passes must be used on consecutive days, and the pass is non-refundable.

How much is a taxi in Singapore?

A standard taxi's flag-down fare is S$4.40 to S$5.20 depending on the company, then 26 cents per 400 m up to 10 km and per 350 m after that, plus 26 cents per 45 seconds of waiting. Peak hours add 25% and midnight to 5.59am adds 50%. Trips from Changi Airport add S$8 from 5pm to midnight and S$6 at other times.

Sources and how current this is

Every fare, rate and norm on this page comes from the official source below and was checked in November 2026. Operators change prices, so check the source before you rely on a number.

Left out because we could not confirm it from an official source: each taxi company's exact flag-down fare (LTA gives the S$4.40–S$5.20 range, which the estimate uses).
